XP: Allows to configure only one station and has no satellite functions.
PRO: Allows to configure up to two stations in the same network and to be a satellite receptor (SNC Technology).

2. I need to administrate only one station with Terminal in the studios of Air, Production and Administration. Which version is more suitable for me?

Hardata Dinesat Radio XP perfectly adapts to your needs. You will need to acquire as many licenses as positions you want to have, and one server license of hdxServer that supports that number of terminals.

3. I have two radios, one is an AM and the other one FM. Which version is more suitable for me?

Hardata hdxRadio PRO allows you to administrate two stations in a centralizad web, sharing database of commercials, artistic and music. You will need to acquire as many licenses as positions you want to have, and one server license of hdxServer that supports that number of terminals.

4. I want to administrate my Broadcast Network. Which version is more suitable for me?

The most suitable software to administrate a Broadcast Network is Hardata hdxRadio NET, it allows you to administrate three or more stations and to emit a list of commands needed to control a satelite network. You will need to acquire as many licenses of hdxRadio NET as positions you want to have and a license of a server hdxServer that supports that number of terminals; meanwhile in the remote stations, you can install hdxRadio PRO or hdxRadio NET depending on the quantity of stations you need to administrate that place.

5. What is the User Code?

Every hdxRadio license comes with a protection key (dongle) that stores a alphanumeric unique code that identifies the user, his product, the licensed product version and its period of use.

6. Which are the system minimum requirements?

An example of optimal configuration should be:

7. Which are the recommended sound cards?

Within the professional sound cards, we recommend Antex, Digigram or Audioscience.
Within the home use sound cards of the Sound Blaster line, we recommend Creative Labs.

8. Which database administrator does it use?

Actually it uses MS SQL Server but it is easily adaptable to other database engines.

9. Is it necessary to install MS SQL Server 2000, Hardata hdxServer and hdxRadio in every or only one PC?

No, any of the three mentioned programs can be separately installed and executed since they interact through the network (always placing correctly the access routes to the data bases, the archives of audio, etc.).

10. Can I reproduce and record audio of any quality?

Yes, as long as you have the appropriate sound card and codecs.

11. Changing the current user code.

The steps that you will have to follow are the following ones:

Open hdxRadio.
Place the mouse pointer in hdxRadio logo located in the upper-right corner of the screen, click the left mouse button.
Click User Password.
Copy out the current password into a paper. Click Cancel and then OK.
Communicate with Hardata requesting the new password.
Once you have got the new password, click again inside hdxRadio logo, in the upper right corner of the screen.
Click User Password button and type the new password inside the New User Password Text Box.
Click OK and then OK again.

There is another way to enter the user code to any terminal from the Server Monitor. For it, open the Server Monitor, click in “user codes", select the terminal which you want to change the code (the time of use that the code has left can be observed in the column "user code state") and enter the new code by pressing the secondary mouse button and selecting the option "set user code" if you already have the new code in your power.

If you have not yet communicated with the supplier of the product or the administration of Hardata to request the code that must be entered, you can ask for it by pressing the secondary mouse button on the terminal "to user codes" and selec the option "ask for new user code".Here you must complete the data requested in the form. You have the option to save the necessary data in a file to send it to the administration of Hardata or you can press “send" so that it is send by electronic mail at the moment.

Then, with the code in your power, select the option "set to user code" the way detailed before and enter the new provided code.

12. You have lost all your chances to access the user code.

Execute Dinesat Radio with the –k parameter. This is possible adding it to your direct access, or by executing the line:

"C:\Program files\Hardata\HDX Radio\hdxRadio.exe" -k
Notice that the –k is outside the quotation marks.

Then contact with your distributor, and indicate the user code on the screen of your system’s computer and ask for a new one. If the direct access was modified, you must eliminate this parameter in it.

Notice that the route where the hdxRadio executable is can be different to the one that appears here according to the unit, the language of the operating system and the folder where you installed the product.

13. How can I do to have different audio configurations for each instance of a window?

Some windows can be opened more than once. In order to be able to configure different audio options for each instance (for example, titles 1 can have a different configuration that titles 2), we must go to the configuration button and press the preferences of the terminal, for it you will need a user with administrative permissions. A menu will appear on the left side and it will allow you to select the properties of audio and the window at issue. Then, press the secondary mouse button on the name of the window that you want to configure and a menu that unfolds with the option "To add" will appear. By selecting this option, a customized configuration will be established for each instance or element that you add to the menu on the left part of the terminal preferences screen.

14. How can I configure an audio editor?

In order to configure an editor, it is necessary to goto configuration > preferences of the terminal > audio editor, and there add an editor specifying a name and the access route to the EXE file of the audio editor.

15. Generating a new station.

In order to create a station, it is necessary to go to configuration > stations > add. There, one name is assigned to the station and you can select the random formats for every day and the automatic mode that you want to use. (Options that will be find detailed in the product’s help).

Note: Once the name of the station is stablished, it cannot be modified.

16. The songs appear with an admiration sign and can’t be played.

This can be caused for several reasons:

a. the title does not have the materialID assigned. In this case, by clicking with the right mouse button on the title and selecting the option properties, the file card of the title will open. The first field is the materialID.

b. the audio file is not located in the specified location or it cannot be accessed.

c. the title is out of date, in this case a rank in which the title is valid can be established in the properties of the title. If the "beginning" and/or "end" box is selected in the properties of the title, it means that it could only be emitted within the determinated rank date.

17. The satellite control does not work correctly.

To allow Dinesat to work with this feature, you will need to have a PRO version. The XP won’t allow this function. Entre the configuration menu, then to Satellite Control RS232 and check that the satellite control is able and the port is the correct one. Verify the rest of the options, specially “Satellite Network Head” and “ Station to control”. Finally go to the menu in the Air 1 Window, properties and Automatic Mode. Verify the appropriate automatic mode that you require.

18. When you want to start a recording session, the system tells that the specific format is not compatible

Verify that the system is able to record in the selected audio quality. The soundcard must support that audio quality. The system must have installed a “Codec” that will allow to emulate the compression by using the CPU.

19. The reproduction is defective or null

Verify that the way of reproduction is the correspondent for your soundcard. If you are using a professional soundcards, you must use the wave mode, in case that uses a Blaster soundcard must use the way DirectShow.

In other cases, verify if there has formed the device of reproduction adapted from the properties of audio in configuration properties of the terminal selecting in the menu of the left side the option "properties of audio" and in the list that unfolding the option corresponding to the window that you want to form.

If this does not solve the problem, verify that the title to reproducing contains audio physically in the Hardata Server that contains it.

Finally, try installing again the drivers for the soundcard, if it is possible use a version updated for your operative system (in the part of technical support of Hardata's page you will find the soundcards authorized together with many other of drivers recommended). And if this does not solve the problem we recommend you to contact with our technical support and they will help you to solve it.

20. You are not able to record in MPEG Layer2 with Sound Forge

You are not able to use the Ripper in MPEG Layer2

If a message warns that the quality is not supported or that there is needed a code ACM, it is because there is needed a codec of recording that allows to compress into the above mentioned quality. An example can be the QDesign codec, which you must pay for it.

Verify that the quality is the correct one.

21. You are not able to record in MPEG Layer2 with Sound Forge.

You are not able to use the Ripper in MPEG Layer 3.

Verify that the quality of the category is the correct one (LAYER3).

22. The silence cut is not done correctly when using the REC button

HdxRadio considers the audio levels indicated in the mixing table to perform the silence cut. If those VU are not working properly the silence cut will not work correctly. Change the drivers of the soundcard and verify that the sound level control (in the mixer), can check the recording level.

23. It is not possible to record and reproduce at the same time

Verify that the soundcard that you are using allows to realize these activities at the same time or has a device of reproduction and other one of recording. Verify that is selected correctly the device of recording in the configuration of the properties.

24. Creation of HTH commands

To locate the commands for the HTH create a category called HTH Commands that will be of "Commands" type. The code of the titles is not important. Only it is necessary to respect the description of the commands as it is indicated:

The Command Hour will call: HOUR
The Command Temperature: TEMPERATURE
And the Command Humidity: HUMIDITY

25. Use of HTH commands

To use these commands simply go to the window of titles, open the category created under the name HTH Commands and choose the command that you want to use (HOUR, TEMPERATURE or HUMIDITY). Drag and drop it before or after any audio inside Air 1 or Air 2 of the radio that that you are using or in the window of Pgm Air 1 or Pgm Air 2.

26. Differentprogramming

Creation of a programming (manual)

To realize a programming you must open a window of programming of the stations (Pgm Air 1 or Pgm 2) depending on the programming that you choose and then open a window of titles selecting the servers and the categories where is the audio that you want to put in the programming. Doing drag and drop the titles overturn in the order that you wish among the blocks as corresponds.

Once realized the day’s program, for Air 1 as for Air 1, you need go to a menu > save programming. The programming will keep saved for the day that you choose.

If you are going to realize a programming and you have remembered that you already have one, you can go to the option “load programming”, this way you will be able to open previous programming for modify and save them for future days, this way you will avoid realize all the programming again.

If you realize this kind of programming, when the window of the Air realized program is opened, you will see how it is loaded automatically

Creation of a programming (Random)

Into this kind of programming there are two variants:

For Air 1 or Air 2, in the window of program you will find the menu and the option of randomprogramming, from here and using a previous format, it is possible to realize a random block of a certain duration. This block isaddedin the selected position in the open programming. You will be able toselect music in Air 2 orcommercial breaks in Air 1.

The last mentioned type is to make easier the program’s manual, it is necessary to save it to load itin the automatic mode into the Air 1 window.

Automatic Programming

Only for Air 2, into the programming window you will find the menu, there select “eliminate programming” option and select the day’s program. Remember that in automatic mode this option is used if there is no program for the day.

For create the random for every day you must go to the Menu, Configuration, Stations,there youwill find a window that allows to choose the formats to use, this way you will be able to create the random one for every day.

Note: The random one for every day can be changed dynamicallyby hoursthrough the insertion of commands into the program as it is explained in HELP.

27. When I want make an audio edition, the editor doesn’t open.

Verify in the menu configuration > preferences of the terminal in the audio’s editors option, see if the editor is correctly configured (the location of the executable of the editor must be correctly specified).

Verify in a window of titles or production, in the Properties / Audio menu, that the format has an editor specified (this point is important).

If the problem is only with files from other terminals, verify that the volumes are specified like this: \\name_PC\c, without repeating bars or using others.

28. Which are the steps I must follow to install an hdxRadio Update?

When you receive an update of the product, you will also receive a link from where you will be able to download a ZIP file containing the latest release available for your hdxRadio version. Once downloaded it is necessary to decompress (unzip) in a new folder.The next step is disconnecting the terminal that you want to update with hdxRadio from the net.

When executing the installer it will tell you that a previous version is installed and it will ask you if youwant to uninstall it, accept and once the uninstalling process ends, executeagain the installer for theinstallation of the product. Select the applications to install into the terminal and continue the steps of theassistant. Once installed the terminal leave the server without connection.

Continue with this mechanism, terminal by terminal including the server and once actualized all theterminalsconnect them again in net and to the server.

29. What happen if I need reinstall the operative system orto format the hard disc?

If the PC has installed only the application hdxRadio without the Hardata hdxServer neither the administrative applications, you only have to make a security copy in other location of the archive hdxRadio.ini that is in the “program\Hardata\hdxRadio files” of the unit in which you install the product.

If the terminal has installed hdxRadio and the administrative applications, you will have to make a security copy in another locationof the hdxRadio.ini archive that is in the mentioned folderand each archive .ini of each administrative application.

From the “Program files\Hardata\hdxAdmin Applications” folder the files: config.ini, hdxauditmanager.ini, hdxexplorer.ini, hdxservermonitor.ini, hardata hdxserversync.ini, hdxusermanager.ini and servers.ini. You also will have to save the new reports that you have created in the Hdx Audit Manager or in other wayyou should create them again.

Those reports are in “Program files\Hardata\HDX Admin Applications\Reports”; they havethe name that you enter when you saved them and are three files with .ini, .sct and .tpl extensions.

Finally, in the terminal which has the server installed, the mechanism is a little more sophisticate, in this case we suggest you to communicate with our technical support so we can guide you.

30. Which are the answering machine functions?

It is about a telephonic module that gives you, in your radio station, the possibility of receiving y recording automatically the telephone calls in the database of Hardata hdxServer.

31. How can I configure the answering machine?

The configuration is realized by thewindow of preferences of the terminal. For this, you will need to be using administrative permissions.

Select the welcome message by making click in the three points “…” and the category of destiny where the calls will be registered of the same way. Select a minimal time and a maximum time for the duration of the message.

Select aminimum time and a maximumtime for themessage’s duration.

Select the telephonic dispositive that you have to install, the one you want to use and the recording quality you want to use.

Finally choosethenumber of rings in which the answer machine will answer the call, thereproduction volume and pressAccept.

32. What is the message of need of ACM code?

If on having tried to record or to import a category, appears a message that informs that you need a ACM code, means that your soundcard cannot compress in this quality and that in Windows there is not have been installed a codec of compression that allows to codify the audio in the quality that you have selected when you form the category.

Generally the operative system includes the codecs of recording for some qualities of audio as "IMAADPCM" but it doesn’t includes codecs neither to record in Mpeg Layer III not for Mpeg Layer II.

Therefore, if you want to record from a window of "titles or production " or wants to import an audio with the " Importer mp3 " converting it to the quality of compression selected in the category, you will have to have installed in your operative system a codec of recording whichadapts to this quality.

If the category hasan Mpeg Layer II selected quality you will have to install in your operative system a codec that allows you to record in the above mentioned quality as for example the Qdesign codec (which you must pay for it and that neither develops does not even distributeHardata). You will find more information about the Qdesign: www.qdesign.com (there you will find it likeQdesign MPEG ACM).

If the category has an Mpeg Layer III selected quality there is a varied quantity of codecs of recording that you can obtain. Amongthem you will be able to find the Fraunhofer (codec which you must pay for it neither develops does not even distribute Hardata. or the Lame (usually free and downloadable from Internet) .For more information about the Fraunhofer can visit: www.iis.fraunhofer.de/

As soon as you have installed the codec (for the quality of recording that youwish. you will be able to record in the categories that use the above mentioned quality).

Note: The professional soundcardallowsto record in certain qualities of audio compressing directly across the hardware of the soundcard instead of doing it across the processor of the pc.
