36. What happens if I need to reinstall the operating system or to format the hard disk?
1. How many versions of Dinesat Radio are available and which are their differences?
Dinesat Radio is available in two versions: XP and PRO.
XP: Allows to configure only one radio station and has no satelite functions.
PRO: Allows to configure up to four radio stations in the same network and to be a satelite receptor (SNC technology control).

2. I need to administrate only one station with Terminal in the studios of Air, Production and Administration. Which version is more suitable for me?
Hardata Dinesat Radio XP perfectly adapts to your needs. You will need to acquire as many licenses as positions you want to have.

3. I have two radios, one is an AM and the other one FM. Which version is more suitable for me?
Hardata Dinesat Radio PRO allows you to administrate two stations in a centralizad web, sharing database of commercials, artistic and music. You will need to acquire as many licenses as positions you want to have.

4. I want to administrate my Broadcast Network. Which version is more suitable for me?
The most suitable software to administrate a Broadcast Network is Hardata hdxRadio NET, it allows you to administrate an unlimited number of stations and to emit a list of commands needed to control a satelite network. You will need to acquire as many licenses of hdxRadio NET as positions you want to have and a license of a server hdxServer that supports that number of terminals; meanwhile in the remote stations, you can install Dinesat Radio PRO or hdxRadio depending on the quantity of stations you need to administrate that place.

5. What is the User Code?
Every Dinesat Radio license comes with a protection key (dongle) that stores a alphanumeric unique code that identifies the user, his product, the licensed product version and its period of use.

6. Which are the system minimum requirements?
The minimum configuration needed to use this software should be the following:
Intel Pentium IV 1.4 GHz
256 MB RAM
40 GB Hard Drive UDMA
8 MB graphic card (supporting 1024x768)
CD-ROM 52x
SoundBlaster compatible soundcard
Windows 2000 or Windows XP
SVGA 15 " Monitor (supporting 1024x768)

7. Changing the current user code.
Open Dinesat.
Place the mouse pointer in Dinesat logo located in the upper-right corner of the screen, click the left mouse button.
Click User Password.
Copy out the current password into a paper. Click Cancel and then OK.
Communicate with Hardata requesting the new password.
Once you have got the new password, click again inside Dinesat logo, in the upper right corner of the screen.
Click User Password button and type the new password inside the New User Password Text Box.
Click OK and then OK again.

8. You have lost all your chances to access the user code.
Execute Dinesat Radio with the –k parameter. This is possible adding it to your direct access, or by executing the line:
"C:\Program files\Hardata\Hardata Dinesat 7\Bin\Dinesat7.exe" -k
(Notice that the –k is outside the quotation marks). Then contact with your distributor, and indicate the user code on the screen of your system’s computer and ask for a new one. Then re-establish the direct access as the original way.

9. How can I configure an audio edior in Dinesat Radio?
If you do not have a user with supervisor permissions, you must press the “change user” button located in the toolbar and enter the supervising password to modify the system configuration.
Once you have entered the password, you will be able to accede the configuration option that is located in the toolbar of the product. You will view the menu list displayed, choose AUDIO EDITORS.
From this point you will be able to configure one or more audio editors to use in digital edition of audio material.
Click ADD.
First name the editor you are going to use. (e.g. My Editor)
Click BROWSE . Search here the executable file of the audio editor you want to use. For example if it is Sound Forge 4.5, the executable is Forge32.exe. Once you made your choice, click OK .
The path should be:
C:\Program files\Sound Forge 4.5\Forge32.exe.
Choose the corresponding option with the editor's features. "PCM, IMA, ADPCM, MPEG Layer III” or “MPEG Layer II”. Usually choosing both options.
Finally, open PRODUCTION window, click MENU, choose PROPERTIES, AUDIO. Display the EDITOR IMAADPCM FORMAT LIST, and select the created editor for PCM, IMA ADPC o MPEG Layer III.
To select the editor that will edit MPEG II, follow the same steps with the MPEG FORMAT LIST.
Note: The configuration of the three last steeps should be done for each created operator and by each instance of the window titles and production that is used (for example: for titles 1, titles 2, production 1, production 2, production 3 and son on).

10. Configuring the CD drive in Dinesat Radio.
First open a File Window and check if the CD AUDIO has not already been installed.
To ensure that the CD AUDIO has not already been installed, display the audio server list located in the upper-left corner inside the File window; There should not appear a server AIRE/CD1, PROD/CD1, etc. If an audio server appeared with one of these names previously mentioned, it is no longer necessary to configure the CD as it has already been recognized.
In case it does not appear in the serve list, left-click on the configuration button in the toolbar of Dinesat Radio. Once in the emerging menu, select VOLUMES option.
In the volumes configuration window, verify that there is no configured volume with the CD unit you are now configuring. To do that, click in one of the volumes listed in the left side of the window and look at the left side, which unit or UNC path has that volume configured. Then select every configured volume and you will be able to see if the CD unit is alreadt assigned to a volume or if we need to create one for it. If there is no volume assigned for the CD unit, create one by clicking in the ADD button located in the bottom of the window.
This way, you will create a volume you must name as PROD*CD1, PRO*CD2, AIR*CD1, etc (according to the terminal where it is located and the number of CD units the PC have). You need to select the unit that corresponds to this volume, display the unit list shown on the window, the UNC box will stay in blank because it will only be used when configuring a volume using a shared network folder instead of a unit letter.
After accepting the changes and closing the volume configuration window, left-click again in the configuration button and choose audio servers.
In the audio servers configuration window click on ADD. In the designated for the server’s name write a name for the same as PROD/CD1, PROD/CD2 or AIR/CD1. In that locaton, display the list and choose the recently created volume and the corresponding cd unit. The final step is to select the volume that corresponds to the CD unit by left-clicking on it. Mark both options in the bottom (removable and protected) because it is a cd unit and accept changes.
This way, you have already configured the CD unit and you will be able to use it by selecting the audio server created from any title or production window.

11. Generating a new radio station.
Steps
Initialize Dinesat
Click USER and enter the Supervisor password
Select SETUP, RADIO STATIONS, ADD.
Enter the name of the new station inside the NAME text box.
In the LOCATION [place in] text box select the volume where you want to keep the data base.

Copy the RADIO folder to another location in the Disk.
Now yo can eliminate the content of the station, from MY PC window and entering to the Dinesat\Radio folder. Select the folder of the station you want to erase (for example: Rad001 if there is only one configured station) and erase its content to leave the folder empty.
Note: Remember you have a copy of the content in another location of the disk. Make sure to backup it in order to restore the information in case of mistake.
Click SETUP, STATIONS and select the location where you want to save the station database, from now on you can continue with the same location you were using.

13. Configuring a new volume to increase the Audio Server size.
Firstly, the company's technician or yourself if you are qualified, should add an additional hard disk to the PC.
Secondly, Once the disk has been recognized by Windows, you must share the unit to gain access from another PC if you haver other terminals with Dinesat Radio that see the audio server.
Inside Dinesat you must configure again the volumes, entering previously the Supervisor user password and the entering to configuration > volumes > add. Name the volume, for example: Air*2 and select the corresponding disk unit.
Add a volume named as the one in the previous step in the rest of the terminals. To do this, you will need to enter the supervisor key and to go to configuration menu. Enter to configuration > volumes > addand type the same name assigned to the previous configurated terminal (in example Air*2). Leave the unit box in blank. In the UNC: enter the network address of the shared folder (for example: \\name_of_the_pc\name_of_the_resource_or_shared_folder).
Press OK and then CLOSE.
You must go to the configuration menu > audio servers and select the server you want to increase in capacity from the list located on the left side.
Press the edit button and modifie the selected volume list adding the recent configured volume. If you leave more than one volume selected, the second volume and so on would be automatically used when the first volume runs out of space. If you only leave the recent configured volume selected, it will continue recording only in this volume and will no longer be used by other volumes when recording or importing in this audio sever.
Press OK and then CLOSE.

14.The song appears with an admiration sign and can’t be played.
Verify that the volume name where the songs are located (see File Card) matches with the one configured (the configured volumes can be seen if you are logged on as supervisor user in the menu configuration > volumes).
Verify that the system is able to play that audio quality.
Verify that the access to the folder that stores it if the title is not located in a local volume.
Try to gain access to the file by a window in My PC and try to play the file or to open it with an audio editor.
Verify that the audio files match to the title you are trying to play. To do this, open de File Card and take notes of your code and of the volume that contains it. As supervisor, go to the menu configuration > volumes and choose the volume you want to see its location. The only thing left to do is to search in the folder \Dinesat\Audio and the title code between the names of the files stored in the folder.

15.The satellite control does not work correctly.
To allow Dinesat to work with this feature, you will need to have a PRO version. The XP won’t allow this function. Entre the configuration menu, then to Satellite Control RS232 and check that the satellite control is able and the port is the correct one. Verify the rest of the options, specially “Satellite Network Head” and “ Station to control”. Finally go to the menu in the Air 1 Window, properties and Automatic Mode. Verify the appropriate automatic mode that you require.

16. When you want to start a recording session, the system tells that the specific format is not compatible.
Verify that the system is able to record in the selected audio quality. The soundcard must support that audio quality. The system must have installed a “Codec” that will allow to emulate the compression by using the CPU.

17. Need ACM code message.
If a a “Need ACM code” appears when you are trying to record or import in a category, it means that Windows do not have a compression codec that allows you to codify in the quality selected when the category was configured.
Generally, the operating system includes the recording codecs for some audio qualities as “IMAADPCM” but don not includ codec to record in MPEG Layer III or MPEG Layer II.
If you need to record from a “title or production” window or to import with the ”mp3 import” changing the quality of the selected category, you must have a recording codec installed in your operating system that adapts to that quality.
If the category has MPEG Layer II quality selected, you will need to install a codec that allows to record in that quality, for example Qdesign (pay codec not developed nor distributed by Hardata). You will find my information about Qdesign in: http://www.qdesign.com (there you will fin it as Qdesign MPEG ACM).
If the category has MPEG Layer III quality selected, there are great variety of recording codecs to get. Some of them are Fraunhofer (pay codec not developed nor distributed by Hardata) and Lame (usually free and it can be downloaded from the internet). For more information about Fraunhofer you can visit: http://www.iis.fraunhofer.de/
For more information about Lame: http://lame.sourceforge.net/
Once you have the codec installed (for the recording quality you want) you will be able to record in the categories that use that quality.
Note: This information is for Sound Blaster audio cards. The professional cards work in a different way that allows to record in determined audio qualities by compressing directly from the hardware in the sound card, instead of doing it with the PC processor.

18. The reproduction is defective or null.
Verify that you have set the appropriate Audio Mode for your Soundcard. If you are using a professional soundcard, you must use the “Wave” mode.
Verify if you have the correct reproduction device in the audio properties of the window (each window has its configuration button and there you will find the option properties).
If this does not resolve the problem, verify that the title to play contains audio, search the file in the volume where it is sotored (the name of the audio file starts with the code that the title has).
Try to install the soundcard drivers again (if it is possible, try a more updated version for your operating system) and if this does not solve the problem, we recommend you to contact our technical support and they will help you to solve it.

19.You are not able to record in MPEG Layer2 with Sound Forge Editor.
You are not able to use the Ripper in MPEG Layer2 compression.
Its necessary to use a Codec that supports the audio format. You can purchase this items from www.qdesign.com
Verify that the audio quality is the correct one.

20. The system is not able to record in MPEG Layer 3 with Sound Forge Editor.
The system is not able to use the ripper module in MPEG Layer 3 compression.
Its neccesary to use a Codec that supports this compression, like Fraunhofer (Shareware) or LAME (freeware).
Verify that the audio quality of the category it’s the right one (LAYER 3).

21. When trying to Edit audio, the editor does not open.
Verify in configuratio > audio editors that the editor is correctly configured.
Verify in a titles or production window, in the menu properties / audio, that the format has a specified editor (this point is important).
If the problem is only with files located in other terminals, verify that the volumes are specified this way: \\name_PC\c, without repeating bars or using others.

22. The silence cut its not done correctly when using the REC button.
Dinesat considers the audio levels indicated in the mixing table to perform the silence cut. If those vumeters are not working properly the silence cut will not work correctly. Change the drivers of the soundcard and verify that the sound level control (in the mixer), can check the recording level.

23. It is not possible record and play at the same time.
Verify that the soundcard you are using has the needed devices (at least 2, one input and one output) and in configuration > audio play mode verify if “Wave” is selected because “DirectShow” mode records and play by the same device.
If you have more than one soundcard in your system (for example two of the Sound Blaster line) and you want to use one for playing and one for recording, verify that the window where you are trying to record has a soundcard configured as a playing device and the other as recording device,
Remember that Wave is for professional soundcards and Directshow is for Sound Blaster.

24. Creating TTH Commands.
To locate the Commands for TTH you must create a category named TTH COMMANDS that will belong to the “Commands” type. The title code is not important, you just have to respect the commands description the way it is indicated.
The TIME COMMAND will be TIME. (HOUR)
The TEMPERATURE COMMAND will be TEMPERATURE.
The HUMIDITY COMMAND will be HUMIDITY.

25. Using TTH Commands.
To use TTH COMMANDS go to FILES and choose the created category TTH COMMANDS from the TYPE submenu, click on the command you want to use (TIME , TEMPERATURE or HUMIDITY) drag and drop (after or before any audio ) inside AIR 1 or AIR 2 of the radio in use, or in the PGM AIR 1 or PGM AIR 2 window.

26. Copying the TTH (Hour Temperature Humidity) files to the local server.
First, insert Installation CD-ROM.
Type a user password that has transfer permission and property modifications; If you do not know which password admits this option, Type a supervisor password.
Open two Title Windows (e.g. Title1 and Title2 ).
In one of them select the Audio Server to which you want to copy the TTH files. Usually, if the terminal's name is AIR, the audio server will be AIR/SV1.
In the other window select the CD Audio Server, following the previous example, it should be AIR/CD1. If this CD server doesn't appear, see step 6 in this user guide (CD DRIVE configuration into Dinesat ) for further information.
In this window, if you have a sound adapter Sound Blaster compatible, select TTH mora adpcm category or if you have an ANTEX or DIGIGRAM select TTH MORA MPEG category or TTH MORA IMAADPCM.
Select all the titles in this category, by clicking the right button of the mouse on the SELECT ALL option.
By dragging the items from this window to the title window you can copy the TTH files.
Eject the INSTALLATION CDROM.
Click MENU on the TTH PANEL, and choose TTH option from the submenu. In this dialog box you must EDIT the option CATEGORY, and select the suitable category (TTH MORA IMAADPCM or TTH MORA MPEG ). Recall that these categories must be configured for each user.

27. Dinesat Radio commands.
Dinesat commands.
The commands are instructions that can be inserted in AIR1 window programming. They command Dinesat to do something; (e.g. Time, Temperature and Humidity commands, Automatic Mode Start commands, commands to select music formats, etc.).
In Dinesat the commands are titles assigned to a command type category with a certain description. This description identifies each command. When Dinesat finds in its programming a title of the command type, compares the description of this title with an inner table that orders what to do. That 's way it is so important to respect the command description just as it is indicated in this guide.
Creating a command
Open a PRODUCTION WINDOW.
Choose a Command type category, if it didn't exist create one selecting CATEGORIES from the PRODUCTION WINDOW MENU.
Click REC, Dinesat will immediately create a title and will open a file card to edit it. In the command file card click EDIT. Go to DESCRIPTION and enter the command definition that you want to incorporate into the system (e.g. type TEMPERATURE to create a command that allows to insert automatically the TEMPERATURE transmission when the programs are on the air).
Table of Dinesat commands
| Command |
Description |
Detail |
HTH |
HOUR |
Transmits automatically the current time. |
TEMPERATURE |
Transmits automatically the current temperature. |
| THERMAL SENSATION |
Transmits automatically the current temperature feels like. |

SUSPEND |
Converts the system to AIRE2 automatic mode; then, suspends the broadcasting until the following commercial scheduled in AIRE1 |
FMT xxxx |
Selects the new format that Aire2's programming will follow since its execution begins. (where xxxx is the format's name to use ) Use block capitals for the format's name. |
Satellite Command |
PLAY LOCAL |
Inserted in a Head Station's AIRE window gives instructions to remote broadcast stations to finalize the satellite transmission and return to the local broadcasting. |
STOP LOCAL |
Inserted in a Head Station's AIRE window gives instructions to remote broadcast stations to finalize the local broadcasting and return to the satellite transmission. |
SYNC |
Inserted in a Head Station's AIRE window gives instructions to remote broadcast stations to synchronize the clocks and dates with the head computer. |
Note for the case of SUSPEND: This command is inserted into the AIR1 programming together with the commercials. Following the schedule at a certain time when this command is read the AIR2 broadcasting is automatically suspended until the following block of contents when it will continue with AIR2 programming.
Note for the case of FMT: This command is inserted into AIR1 programming together with the commercials. Following the schedule as soon as this command is read the AIR2 window is dynamically updated according to the xxx Name of the previously implemented format. The following day it should be defined (with the same command) which command you want to use, otherwise the last implemented format will remain.

28. Creating a programming (manually).
Open a programming window of the broadcast station (Pgm Air 1 o Pgm Air 2 according to the defined programming); open a FILE window, select the server and the categories where the Audio you want to introduce in the programming is located. By dragging and dropping you order the Titles in the suitable part of the show in the block of contents.
Once the programming of the day for AIR1 as for AIR2 has been scheduled go to MENU, SAVE PROGRAMMING This programming has been saved for the day you have chosen.
When starting a new programming with certain similarities to previously made and saved programmings, you will be able to load, modifie and save them for future use. This way you avoid making all the programming again.
If you make programmings of this kind, when opening the Air window corresponding to the made programming, this will automatically load.

29. Creating Randon or Automatic programming.
Here you will find two variants:
Random programming
Inside Programming window, for AIR1 as well as for AIR2, click MENU, RANDOM PROGRAMMING, you will see a DIALOG BOX, that allows, using a previous format, to produce a Random block with a certain duration; showing wide-ranging broadcast options. This block of contents is added into the chosen position in the open programming and it could be Music in AIR2 or commercial breaks in AIR1.
The last one mentioned, makes the Manual Programming easier, since it must be saved to be automatically loaded into AIR1 window.
Automatic programming
Only for AIR2. Go to the programming window, click MENU, LOAD PROGRAMMING. Select the day's date and REMOVE it. The said Automatic Programming is only realizable if there isn't a programming saved for such date.
Go to MENU again, PROPERTIES, AUTOMATIC PROGRAMMING, from here you can use formats for each day ; these ones are dynamically changeable by timetable, and have the same broadcast options than in the above mentioned RANDOM PROGRAMMING.
For security reasons, the administrator user password was changed (initially SUPERMAN) and and now they do not remember the present key.
You must send the file “dusr1.dbf” included in the folder Dinesat\DBNet to Hardata’s Technical Support for the reassignment of a generic supervisor user because many stations ask for it and for security purposes there is no other way of doing this.
For security purposes, we required that the holder of the license communicates by telephone with our administratio to check if the information is correct for security reasons.

30. The plugins or accessories of Dinesat Radio don’t initiate or they don’t work correctly.
To work without any inconvenience with Dinesat Radio plugins and accessories, all the operators and users of Dinesat must have “administrative permissions” in the accounts of the operating system (Only Windows 2000 and XP).

31. When I open the Tele Voto (televote) module, an error appears with LINEERR.
The modem or telephonic device is not compatible with the necessary functions or the selected device is no the one that corresponds. Verify to select the device that corresponds with the hardware that you have installed.
The telephonic devices for Dinesat Radio are telephony boards. If you are using a modem, remember you must use a Voice Modem that supports the TAPI standard. Not every modem will work properly.

32. The plugin browser does not appear in the accesories button of Dinesat Radio.
Enter as supervisor user and verify if the user that is tryingto open the browser has permission to open audit windows (it appears as access to audit windows).

33. Which are the functions of the Telemensaje (telemessage)?
It is a telephone module that grants to its radio station the possibility to receive calls and automatically record them in the database. It also allows to listen the messages from Dinesat Radio or to use an editor to edit them as you edit the other titles contained in this same product.

34. How can I configure the Telemensaje (telemessage)?
The configuration is made through the options window:In telephone device, select the telephony device that is installed in your PC.
In reproduction, select the audio server and the category that contains the welcome message e.g."You have communicated with..." and the warning signal that indicates that the message can be leave e.g. "beep".
Choose the corresponding telephone category, establish a welcome message, a signal of warning or beep and the desired volume.
In recording, select the audio server where the incoming messages will be recorded (the recording device is the telephony device which the system will work with).
Select the telephone category with "PCM Mono 8Khz 16Bit" quality where the received messages will be saved.
Finally, establish the minimum and maximun duration of the message.
With the telemensaje module, you will have access to a statistical service of calls per hour.

35. How can I update Dinesat Radio to the latest version?
When you receive an update of the product, you will also receive a Web site from where you will be able to download a ZIP file containing the latest release available for your Dinesat version.
Once downloaded it is necessary to decompress (unzip) it in a new folder. The next step is to close Dinesat Radio if it is open and to execute the file "setup.exe" that will ask if you wish to uninstall the actually installed version, answer yes.
Start the installation again from the file (setup.exe) and follow the instructions of the screens of the installation assistant. Once the installation ends it is recommended to check that the configuration of the product and the configuration of the properties of each window are correct (device of reproduction, device of cue, etc.). It is recommended that when checking the configuration you reread the help chapters of the product destined to explain these points.
Note: The uninstalling of the previously installed version, does not eliminate the data bases so when you reinstall the product, your data base will maintain all its information.

36. What happens if I need to reinstall the operating system or to format the hard disk?
In case that you need to reinstall the operating system of your PC or to replace the hard disk the steps to follow are the following ones:
Not to lose the information that you have saved, it is very important to make a backup of the folders of Dinesat in another location.
For it, copy the folders "/Dinesat "in another PC of the network or another hard disk of the computer (remember that you have a folder \Dinesat forceach volume configured in the product). Generally, these folders \Dinesat are located in the root of the hard disk or in a partition of your PC, if they are not there you will have to go to the menu "configuration" and to select to the option "volumes". There you will find all the configured volumes in the terminal and for each volume you will obtain the location to find the folder \Dinesat that corresponds. When the volume has a configured unit letter, the folder \Dinesat will be in the root directory of the hard disk of the unit that corresponds to it, while if instead of a unit you have a UNC direction configured, it means that the folder \Dinesat is in another PC of the network or in a shared folder indicated by the route shown there.
Don't forget to make a copy in another location of the configuration file "Dinesat.ini" ("Dinesat4.ini" for Dinesat 4, 4,5 and 4.5mp3) that is in the folder of the operating system Windows (generally C:\Windows or C:\Winnt).
Once you have a copy in another hard disk of all the Dinesat folders of the terminal (complete with all its archives and subfolders included) and of the Dinesat.ini file (or Dinesat4.ini, according to the version of Dinesat that is installed) will be able to install the updated operating system.Once installed, verify if it is working correctly and if it does, copy the folders \Dinesat to its respective locations (e.g.: if you had the C:\Dinesat folder, copy this folder in the same location). Then, copy the file "Dinesat.ini" (or "Dinesat4.ini") to the folder of the Windows operating system.
You can already install Dinesat Radio and software will automatically take the data base that you used and the configuration that it previously had.
Finally, check the configuration of Dinesat Radio and each window. Some configurations, for example the selection of the device of sound to use, could have changed from an installation of the operating system to another one. Therefore it is advised to you to verify that the configuration of the product and the properties of each window are the correct ones considering for it the indications of the help for the configuration of the product.
